This one-day, 4-hour workshop dives deeper into the core principles of the Meisner acting technique.

Meisner trains actors to move their attention away from themselves and onto their scene partner. Instead of planning reactions, manufacturing emotions, or deciding how to deliver a line, you’ll learn to observe behavior, listen truthfully, and respond to what’s actually happening in the moment.

Previous experience with the Meisner acting technique is not required, but it is recommended.

Guided by Instructor Alanna, the workshop unfolds in a supportive, hands-on setting with personalized coaching throughout. Whether you're early in your Meisner journey or continuing to build on past training, this workshop meets you where you are and guides you to a deeper level of testing your instincts.

Meisner asks you to give up a little control and start trusting what’s happening between you and your partner. You'll practice getting out of your head, trusting your gut, and reacting instinctively, letting authentic emotion come through, and discover that the more you're simply doing, the less you have to try to do.

1. Arrive. Check in, meet Instructor Alanna, then grab a drink or snack and settle in.
2. Start with observation. Begin with simple observation and the foundational Meisner repetition exercise.
3. Build the work. Exercises progress step by step toward more specific behavioral and relational work, with personalized coaching and adjustments along the way.
4. Wrap up. Reflect on what you discovered, ask questions, and leave with practical tools you can bring into every scene and audition.

This is an experiential workshop. You’ll learn Meisner by doing it, so come ready to work with a partner, listen, experiment, and let go of planning every moment.

Meisner Acting Technique is taught by Instructor Alanna, a professionally trained, working actor who specializes in the Meisner, Strasberg, and Practical Aesthetics techniques. With five years of teaching experience, Alanna works full time as an acting instructor and private coach, helping actors build truthful, grounded performances. She also works as a production manager on film sets, most recently on narrative features, and brings experience from live shows and film festivals into every class.
